Jim Cortner is a second-generation funeral director and embalmer serving Southern Middle Tennessee for over thirty-five years. He grew up in Winchester Tennessee, graduated from Franklin County High School, later attended the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, and went on to graduate from Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Georgia with honors. He is a member of the Pi Sigma Eta Funeral Service Fraternity. Jim returned home to Winchester in 1991, to work in the family establishments, Moore-Cortner Funeral Home and Franklin Memorial Gardens. Under Jim‘s leadership, they have expanded by acquiring Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg, and Watson Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Winchester. Jim has served on many local, state, and regional community boards, along with multiple boards in the funeral profession. He is currently serving on the Southern Cemetery Crematory and Funeral Association Board of Directors, Tennessee Funeral Security, NC. Board of Directors and The Independent Funeral Group Board of Directors . Jim resides in Winchester with his wife, Holly Cortner, and they share a son, Robert Cortner and his wife, Emily. Serving along with father, Bob, wife, Holly, and son, Robert as licensed funeral directors, Cortner Family of Funeral Homes and Cemeteries is truly a family affair. Jim is a member of Trinity of Episcopal Church in Winchester where he serves on the Vestry as Junior Warden. He is a thirty-second degree Mason, Scottish Right, and Shriner. He enjoys traveling, hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors…as well as cheering on the Tennessee Vols in every sport!
Bob Cortner purchased Moore Funeral Home in 1966 from Mrs. Watson Moore and changed the name to Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Bob attend the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science where he obtained his funeral director and embalmer’s license.
1966 was a momentous year for Bob. Besides purchasing the funeral home, he was married to June Gentry. They have one son, Jim who is also a Funeral Director and Embalmer. Jim works with his dad at the funeral home.
A native of Franklin County, Robert grew up watching his dad and grandfather serving the families of this community. Robert is a fifth-generation employee of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home and looks forward to continuing in the family business. He enjoys meeting new families as well as continuing relationships already established. When not at work, Robert enjoys golfing and is an avid University of Tennessee Athletics fan. He also enjoys spending time at Tennessee Walking Horse Shows, an industry he has participated in since he was five. Robert is the son of Jim and Holly Cortner and the grandson of Bob and June Cortner and Bill and Rebecca Pyron. He is married to Emily Zahnd Cortner, formerly of Decatur, Alabama. Holly brings years of leadership and an unmatched level of compassion to the team here at Moore-Cortner and Jennings Moore-Cortner Funeral Homes as our Chief Operations Officer. Holly is married to Jim Cortner and has one son named Robert. Her parents are Bill and Rebecca Pyron of Winchester; and her grandfather is Skip Parkes of Fayetteville. Holly enjoys living in Winchester and is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Jennifer adds great value to our families through years of local service in the funeral industry. She is a 2006 graduate of Franklin County High School, where she was drum major and played Clairnet in the band. Jennifer earned her associate degree in mortuary science from John A. Gupton Mortuary College in 2008. She is a Certified Crematory Operator through the NFDA and Certified Celebrant. Jennifer is currently an active board member and alto singer with the Winchester Civic Choir. She is the former Vice - President of the Franklin County Raise a Reader program associated with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and Governors Books from Birth. She and her family attend Pelham Valley Church of God of Prophecy. In her spare time, you can find her cheering on her children at their sporting events, or volunteering with Franklin County Soccer Association. She enjoys watching I Love Lucy and listening to music. Jennifer is always ready for the next trip to Dollywood, Disney, a cruise, or relaxation at the beach. Jennifer lives in Decherd with her husband, Casey and their three children, Adalynn, Alanna, and Caden. She is the daguhter of Joretta Goins (Andy) Hobbs of Kingsport and Donald Jones of Kingsport and the granddaughter of the late Elmer and Edna Goins and the late Marlene and Kenneth Jones.
Scot is very excited to serve our families with a specialized focus on Cemetery and Monuments. He takes great pride in helping families through very difficult times. Scot joined the Moore-Cortner family in 2015 and is also a licensed insurance agent for the State of Tennessee.
Scot is a native of Franklin County and attended Huntland High School. He and his wife of 19 years-Erica, and son-Weber live in Winchester. Scot enjoys playing golf, reading and attending church at Kings Cross in Tullahoma.

Davis was born in Winchester, Tennessee and is a graduate of Franklin County High School and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Tennessee and Alabama. He is also licensed as a Pre-Need Funeral Agent in Tennessee along with holding licenses in Property, Casualty, Life and Health Insurance
Shiro Burnette Sr. is a dedicated member of the Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home staff. He has resided in Franklin County for 49 years alongside his wife of 34 years, Ericka Burnette, and their three children, Sasha, Bria and Shiro II. His professional background has granted him the opportunity to be of service in the United States Army, manage production exports in the automotive industry, and guide communities through 23 years of ministry.
Shiro utilizes these past experiences to serve the surrounding communities with dignity and respect. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home has committed itself to operating as a caring and supportive institution, and he is honored to continue to this mission. Brenda Taylor is our non-licensed Personalization Specialist. Brenda currently lives in Winchester with her husband, Charles, and they have one son, Eric.
She is a member of “The House of Prayer” in Decherd and considers her role here as part of her ministry.
